Roofs typically require ladders that are taller than what most people currently have in their home. Obviously, the size of ladder you need may vary with the height and amount of stories you have in your home. Since you will be climbing pretty high on the ladder, you will want to make sure that you have a study and strong ladder that is dependable.

An air nailer – Of course you could use a hammer and nails to hold down the roofing materials on your roof, but that is going to take a long time and be quite a bit more work. Once you load the air nailer with the nails, with a press of a button the shingle and tar paper are nailed down in no time. This can really be your best friend in a situation like this. It can literally cut you work by more than half. It is also a tool that can be used in other situation and for different jobs. If you find one on sale or at a discount tool store, it is even a better investment.

A standard tool box – Even with the fancy equipment you have on hand, you can not completely neglect your average, everyday tool box. This should be stocked with a hammer, a screwdriver, etc. Just the things you already have in your go to in your home. There will be some instances in your job that you will need to access some of these tools. Make sure to bring them on the roof with you just in case. For efficiency and safety, you do not want to have to constantly be going up and down the ladder. It will waste your time and create more opportunities for injury.

If you have these things on hand, you will be ready to do basic roofing jobs. Some repairs are going to require specialized equipment, but you will need to assess that on a case by case basis.
